These function icons can be easily selected and also configured individually. Supporting this will be live widgets in a vertical arrangement on the driver’s side of the user interface. Zero-layer means that all key functionality and information will be shown on a single level, making it easier to select a functions without having engage a submenu. Key to the update is what BMW is calling the zero-layer concept. But the real question is what models will get this new update? The focus on the update is a refreshed home screen and a revised UI that should work better with BMW’s new curved display now available on most models. BMW is introducing two new versions of iDrive – iDrive 8.5 and iDrive 9.0 later this year. The transmission also has a built-in mechanical limited-slip differential for the front axle to help aid handling during hard cornering.IDrive as we know it is about to change. The transmission features paddle shifters for manual control, and holding the left paddle for at least one second switches all of the vehicle’s chassis systems to their sportiest setting. The X1 M35i’s engine is married to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system. The regular X1 tops out at 241 hp in internal-combustion guise and 308 hp in electric iX1 form. That’s the highest output for a production BMW 4-cylinder engine, and it means the X1 M35i can sprint to 60 mph from rest in 5.2 seconds and reach a governed top speed of 155 mph. In the case of the X1 M35i, BMW has installed a 2.0-liter turbo-4 rated at 312 hp. The range is a step below BMW’s M car lineup and offers a good compromise between comfort and performance. Similar to M35i versions of other BMW compacts, including the M235i Gran Coupe and X2 M35i, the new 2024 X1 M35i falls under BMW’s M Performance range. in October and will carry a starting price of $50,895, including a $995 destination charge. BMW redesigned the X, and for its second year on the market the new generation of the compact crossover has spawned a performance variant called the X1 M35i. ![]()
